Green cleaning for microwaves

Did you know that there is a green cleaning solution for your microwave? If you are like most people, during the hot summer weather, you do less conventional cooking on a hot stove and use the microwave oven more often. When it comes to microwave ovens, with the fall holidays on the way, our microwaves will see even more duty heating up creams and soups and hearty foods that go with cooler weather, least of all, there will be lots of “movie” nights where the family enjoys gathering in front of the Television to watch your favorite movies, and where there are movies, there is lots of microwave popcorn.

What we want to do, is to help you avoid opening that microwave and losing your appetite because your microwave is disgusting. Before you start cleaning, have you ever thought about what happens when you use chemical cleaners in your microwave oven? Harmful chemicals should not be used in a microwave or an oven because they get heated when using the appliance. The chemicals usually leave residual odors and traces of the product. These odors can permeate the foods that you cook in the microwave. Below, you will find a quick and easy procedure that will ensure that your microwave smells as good and fresh as the day you purchased it. Most importantly, you will have a completely effective and eco-friendly microwave cleaner. All you need is a small wooden spoon, a microwaveable bowl, and baking soda. Follow these steps:

  1. Fill the bowl one-half to two-thirds full with water.
  2. With the wooden spoon, add about 2 teaspoons of baking soda to the water.
  3. Stir the mixture and place it in the microwave.
  4. Set the timer for 3 minutes and turn the microwave on, heating the open bowl.
  5. If there are really tough stains, heat the mixture for 5 minutes.

After time has concluded, a majority of the stains should be gone and the smell should be noticeably better.

  1. Using a thick sponge and gloves, be careful not to burn yourself and scrub the walls of the microwave with the water-baking soda mixture.
  2. After the microwave has been scrubbed, use a paper towel to dry the inside of the microwave.
