Deep cleaning the bathroom
Is your bathroom in need of a deep cleaning? If not today, it eventually will because it simply gets used so much. Daily or weekly cleanings of your bathroom keeps it usable and presentable for your family and guests. However, eventually you will need to focus on the hard-to-reach and harder-to-clean areas. You may clean you shower every week, but the buildup of water spots on your shower door or curtain takes much more time and energy than you may have every week. During a deep cleaning, you will want to take down the light globes and fan covers and wash them. We want to show you how to bring that “like new” sparkle back to your bathroom.
Removing water stains
The combination of water and soap in the bathtub or shower results in buildup and spots. The procedure for deep cleaning a shower or tub is the same, whether you are cleaning fiberglass or another material. Start by removing everything from the shower. Spray an all-purpose cleaner on all surfaces and let it sit for about five minutes. Scrub the tub and shower with a microfiber cloth, working your way around all the surfaces you sprayed earlier. To remove stubborn spots and stains may require the use of a cleaner that is designed to deal with hard water spots or mineral deposits. Once the spots are removed, wipe down the area with a clean, dry cloth. If you have an issue with hard water, you may need to clear a clogged showerhead. Simply remove the showerhead and soak it in diluted vinegar overnight.
Deep cleaning bathroom floors
Most bathrooms have water-resistant floors. To deep clean your floors, start by vacuuming, using the hard-surface setting. Vacuuming is more effective than sweeping because it is less likely to cause dirt to scratch your floor. In addition, if the floor is comprised of tiles, sweeping can embed dirt in the grout. After vacuuming, clean the floor with a microfiber mop dipped in a solution of tile and grout cleaner. Be sure a cleaner that is safe for the type of tile you have. Use the grout brush or old toothbrush and grout cleaner to tackle any stains in the grout.
Removing bathroom mold
If you need to remove stubborn or deep mold stains, try a bleach solution of 1 part bleach, 2 parts water. Spay it on the mold stains, and let it sit for a few minutes. Scrub or brush the area, and then rinse with a clean wet towel. If you prefer a green solution, use undiluted vinegar. As with every cleaning product, test it in a small area first, to ensure it does not cause damage.
